NEW MEXICO---Aurelia Nejeres isn't quite sure of the name of all the tools at her disposal, but based on the response to the self-taught artist's work, she knows how to use them. Nejeres recently completed a trio of oversized portraits that hang on a rear wall inside the sanctuary of Holy Cross Catholic Church. The large, oil-on-plastic-glass paintings represent three of the most well-known figures of contemporary Catholicism: Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II and the saint popularly called Padre Pio.
