THE NEW AGE
By Fanisa Masia
SOUTH AFRICA---A documentary photo exhibition showcasing spiritual and religious practices in two countries is set to commence at the Durban Art Gallery this weekend. South Africa’s Andrew Tshabangu and Reunion Island’s Rene-Paul Savignan will be exhibiting eighty of their black and white photographs at the Bridges exhibition. Aimed at exploring and documenting the expression of spiritual longing through communal ritual, and what the two artists refer to as “the most fundamental of human needs”, the exhibition is meant to celebrate a 15-year collaboration between both photographers. The exhibition ends on January 18. [link]
